Ode to Fathers: An Afternoon of Poetry

It’s biology: we all have a father, and whether that father was present in our lives or not and whether they were there in positive or negative ways, we know what we want in our father figures. Some father figures gushed over all our accomplishments, and some, as Clarence Budington Kelland once said, “My father didn’t tell me how to live. He lived and let me watch him do it.” And yet some of us have lost our fathers in the many ways that people may be lost to us. Regardless, most of us have known and loved someone who has served as a father figure in our lives. With that in mind, in celebration of fathers and all those who father, please join us for a reading at The Gatehouse on Saturday, June 15, 2024, from 1-3pm.

Writers: Robert Bensen, Allison Collins, Taryn Grimes, Julia Suarez Hayes, Rachel Fest, Bradley Fest, Vicki Wicker, and Julene Waffle
