Djembe Drum Class

Discover the rhythms of West African drumming in this hands-on workshop with percussionist and instructor Chuck Wood. Open to beginner and intermediate players, this class offers an opportunity to explore traditional rhythms, develop your technique, and experience the energy of playing music together.

With more than 45 years of experience playing hand percussion, Chuck is an accomplished performer and nationally recognized drum instructor. His patient, encouraging teaching style makes drumming accessible to students of all skill levels.

The workshop will focus on the djembe, a traditional West African hand drum, with instruction also incorporating the doundoun, a family of African bass drums. Participants will learn rhythmic patterns, improve their playing skills, and build confidence through group drumming.

Class Level: Beginner to intermediate

What to Bring: Participants must bring their own djembe or doundoun drum. Unfortunately, no extra drums will be available.

Come make some noise, learn something new, and enjoy the experience of drumming together!
