The Gatehouse Open Mic - Songs of Solidarity

Join us for a special evening of live music, poetry, comedy, and more, hosted by the one and only Khalil Jade! Performers can sign up when they arrive (first-come, first-served). We are encouraging people to share songs and poems of peace, resistance and messages that feel relevant to this time... as always all voices will be welcomed. All of our unique voices are truly what make this community so strong.

Khalil will be leading us in community songs from Singing Resistance. Singing Resistance is building a mass movement of singers to protect and care for our communities in the face of rising authoritarianism. Grounded in love, nonviolence, and solidarity. Song is an antidote to fear, to help us connect to each other, and it is through song that we can name and protect what we hold sacred. Singing Resistance is a loving entry point for many people, including those who are new to social movements and activism. We welcome everyone into the movement for collective liberation. We are fighting for a future in which all people - Black, Brown, Indigenous, immigrant, trans, queer, disabled, poor - are safe and treated equally and humanely.

Grab a coffee, enjoy the show, or take the stage yourself—see you there!
