Elizabeth Nields

Elizabeth Nield's artistic roots trace back to the apprentice-style teachings at Baldwin Pottery in NYC. She honed her skills further through studies at several other prestigious institutions, culminating in a B.A. cum laude from Radcliffe College.

Since 1974, Elizabeth has held clay workshops at her studio. A versatile and accomplished potter, her artistic journey spans a rich spectrum of clay types and forms, from delicate vessels to large-scale sculptures.

In recent years, Elizabeth has collaborated with other local artists on projects ranging from monuments to murals and tiles for installation. Her studio has become a haven for creativity, where artists come together to bring unique visions to life under her expert guidance.

The walls of her studio echo with the stories embedded in her creations. Some sculptures tell of ancient civilizations and mythical realms. The echoes of an ancient elephant temple, reminiscent of 3000 BC ruins, reverberate through her creations, grounding her work in a timeless narrative.

The Gatehouse features a range of Nields' creations, from bowls, plates, cups, and mugs to Raku vases.
