Elizabeth Wilde Exhibition: The Quiet Turning

The Gatehouse presents The Quiet Turning, an exhibition by local artist Elizabeth Wilde, opening Friday, April 3rd from 4–6 PM.

Spanning nearly two decades of work, this series of atmospheric abstract paintings traces recurring passages between winter and spring—a landscape continually in transition. Through expansive gestures and nuanced passages of color, Wilde captures a world where winter still lingers, yet light begins to emerge.

Hints of sky, shifting weather, and fleeting illumination move across each surface—primarily oil on canvas, with select works on paper—creating compositions that feel both muted and alive, as if on the verge of transformation. Some paintings carry a quiet, contemplative stillness; others pulse with an energetic, almost ecstatic light.

Together, they reflect the delicate moment when one season softens into the next.
